Duration of Belize Visa

Long-Stay Visas for Belize
A long-stay visa is a visa issued for one year. However, depending on your stay in Belize, there are different long-stay visas, such as:

If you are issued a long-stay visa and want to stay longer than one year in Belize, you can apply for a permanent residence permit.
Residence Permit for Belize
If you plan to stay longer than one year in Belize, you must apply for a Belize residence permit at the Immigration Department. Depending on the purpose of your stay in Belize, there are two types of residence permits:
- Temporary residence permit.
- Permanent residence permit.
Temporary Residence Permit
A temporary residence permit is issued to applicants who want to invest in Belize. The duration of a temporary residence permit is one year. However, it becomes renewable at the end of its period.

Permanent Residence Permit

- You must not have left the country for longer than 14 days during a one-year period.

Belize Retirement Visa
If you want to retire in a magical country like Belize, you must apply for a Belize Retirement visa. To qualify for a retirement visa in Belize, you must fullfill some of the following criteria:
- You must be older than the age of 45.
- You must prove that you are not a threat to the Republic of Belize.
- You must prove that you have a monthly income of $2,000 or $24,000 annually generated from a source outside of Belize.
- You must be able to stay in Belize for a minimum of 30 consecutive days annually.
